Happy New Year!

Tomorrow is the Jewish new year – Rosh Ha`shana – and I made some interesting resolutions.
The first one: to write more in my blog [ not really, I just made that up].
The second one: to do homework after school, and not in the mornings.
The third: Try to be more patient with my brother.
And there are some resolutions that I’m not ready to share just yet.

Anyway, I made some progress with my list!
I finished task number 13 [try 40 new recipes] with a great success. But I don’t stop here! I keep trying new recipes, and I’m really happy with what I cooked so far!
Task number 37 [read 30 new books ] is done too. My sister’s friend brought us so many books, my room is full of them!!

Task number 47 [find 3 new pen-pals and keep in touch for at least 3 months ] is the one I appreciate the most. I “met” 3 wonderful girls: Megane, Navy and Jade. We became really close and I hope that one day we’ll have the chance to meet!!
I completed task number 51 [have at least 3 girls nights out ] a long time ago, I just had no time to write about it. I’m so busy with school, I just want to finish my last year and get out to the “real” world!

The amount of movies I watched is enormous, I’ll have to dedicate a long post just to list them all. Meanwhile, you can see some of the things I cooked in the past weeks!!

A moment of peace

I know I haven’t written in a long time, and there’s a lot of catching up to do – but I want to take a moment to relax, and think about how wonderful people can be….just a thought!

what do I do in the summer?

I used to write so much in this blog. I don’t know, I guess I lack the inspiration. I used to think of the list all the time, but now there are much more pressing things to think about.
But I intend to change that!! I’m not going to give up on what I started here. I may not accomplish most of the things on my list, but I’m going to try and do as much as I can.
I think the only goal I’m really committed to is the cooking. Oh, and the movies. And the books!!!
After all, it is summer, and I do have some free time.
This week I made Rice Krispies [something my teacher used to bring us every holiday or birthday, and after we begged her - she taught us how to make them. But I never tried it myself, until now], and the most delicious chocolate cookies!!
Usually when I make cookies, they are hard & crispy. They are good, but not very good. But the cookies I made this week are crispy on the outside & soft on the in side.
It took me 3 years to find this recipe! If I manage to translate it, I would definitely post the recipe here.
Movies….I watch them nonstop, whenever I have the time.
I stopped trying to keep track of them, and I write only what I remember best. For example, last week I watched at least 4 movies and the only one I remember is the new movie “Red Riding Hood”, which is nice by the way.
The books…sometimes I have a whole stack of them waiting for me to read them, and sometimes I’m so desperate that I reread “twilight”. Horrible! Fortunately, this week I did have some books to read. I read “message in a bottle” by Nicholas Sparks, a good book but it wasn’t worth all the fuss around it. I read 2 more books that are not even worth mentioning, and now I’m about to begin reading another book (can’t remember the name, sorry!). I hope I’ll enjoy that and if I do, I’ll tell you more about it!

10 famous people I want to meet

OK, I have NO IDEA what was I thinking when I added this one to my list. I mean seriously, what good will it do if I make a list of famous people? But hey, if it’s on the list I better do it.

1.First person I would want to meet is Marcus Zusak. He’s a brilliant author, and I would like to hear more about his writing process.

2.Yiruma…. I’m in-love with his music. I wonder what kind of person plays that great on piano!!

3+4.Bradly Cooper & Shane west….brilliant actors and hot as hell.

5.Napoleon Bonaparte. Weird choice, but I really want to know what a person like him was thinking that brought him that far.

6.Cleopatra – a woman with so much knowledge and power, and yet very young. Inspiring!

At this point the decision is getting harder….
7.Marilyn Monroe – a legend. No need to say anything else.

8.“the kooks” band. Love their songs!!!

9.Alanis Morissette. An amazing singer!!!

10.Charlotte Brontë – because I LOVE her book, and I would like to know what life looked like back then.

Not the best list ever made, but quite honest.

Movies & Clothes

Last night I watched a movie with my sister, and I said to myself that I had to dedicate a post to the subject. Don’t stress, it’s nothing really important. I’m just blabbing here!
We watched “Dirty Dancing 2″ – yeah I know, why am I watching this only now?!?!?! To tell you the truth, I have no idea. But it’s a shame, because the movie is great!!
I loved the movie for so many reasons. The amazing dances, the lovely couple, the beautiful story and the clothes. That’s what I want to talk about. The movie is set in the 50′s, and watching the way people used to dress makes me shiver. Such an elegance & beauty, it’s unbelievable. Why we can’t dress like that today? Why everything is about showing your body and not covering?
Clothes can be pretty and sexy without being sluty. Won’t it be great if this kind of fashion will have a comeback? I think it’s great.
Anyway, if you didn’t watch this movie yet – check it out!

The Japan Syndrome

So I took on a new project – to find at least 3 pen pals and stay in touch with them [task number 48].
I found this great site, the Penpal Net [ http://www.penpal-net.info/index.html ].
I’m currently talking with two great girls – one from France and one from America.
The only problem I had with this site, and any pen-pal site there is, is the Japan Syndrome. I had a hard time to find people who didn’t want to talk only about Japan! I mean, what’s the big deal about that country? Why on earth everyone is so attracted to it?!

Anyway, this site is great – I think you’ll find some interesting people to talk to. Mail, snail mail, there is everything there.

In two days my little brother turns 8…you know what that means?! A lot of cooking = trying new recipes !!!!! Wait for new posts :)

End of the school year…what a joy!

I’m here to announce two extremely important things.
The first one is that a few days back [5 to be exact] I finished another goal from my list: I tracked my dreams for a month. Let me tell you, it wasn’t easy as it seems. Every day sat for at least half an hour to try and remember what my dream was about. Weird dreams, too.

The second and more important thing is…..TODAY WAS THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!! Well, I still have one exam left but I’m OFFICIALLY DONE! I can’t believe that I have only one year left, and then I’m out in the more-or-less-real-world.

Watched the movie unknown yesterday. Was really nice, but I expected more..after all, Liam Neeson is in it, how could the movie NOT be good? But maybe I was a little disappointed because I was waiting for so long before I actually got to see the movie, that my expectations were too high.

Anyhow, now that I have more time in my hands I’m going to try and do more stuff from my list.
